“An artist is somebody who enters into competition with God.”
— Patti Smith
The Fiction Shelf wants you to write about one day.
Our new competition is opening and from the 20th of February we will be accepting stories or poems of 500 words or fewer on the theme of ‘One Day’.
Maybe you’ll write it in 24 hours, or maybe you’ll show us an extraordinary day in somebody’s life. However you interpret it, we’re looking for the most imaginative, entertaining and thought‐provoking stories.
As always, all the shortlisted writers will be featured on the site, and the winner will get a £20 book token.
You can enter by submitting your work to us in the normal way (details are here – please make it clear you want to be considered for the prize), or by emailing competition@thefictionshelf.com.
Follow us on Twitter (@TheFictionShelf) for further announcements and details as well as news on The Fiction Shelf and the latest stories published.
The deadline for entry is the 14th of June 2012, and the shortlist will be announced in early July.
It doesn’t have to be a new story, but unfortunately we can’t accept any pieces which you currently have entered in competitions elsewhere.
Thanks in advance for being a part of our newest competition.
Good luck,
– The Fiction Shelf Editors
